after getting 2 bsod, i think i've figured what it is. Have done a memtest on my GeIL 2gb memory. It found 2 errors. BIOS settings are at stock, 2.1v 800mhz 4-4-4-12. Rest of rig consists of DS3 and E6600 2.40ghz. Is the ram faulty?

Sounds like.

Seems to be a bad batch going around at the moment, my mate just had some faulty sticks, failed to run at stock speeds! He's sent them back for a refund and gone for the 10th Anniversary Crucial like me :)

I have exactly the same set up - E6600 + Gigabye DS3 + Geil 2x1GB PC6400 800MHz

I've installed the latest F10 BIOS but I can't see any mention of memory timings. It appears to be reporting the memory speed as 667MHz though, unless I adjust the memory multiplier manually. I've never seen that option in a BIOS before, but should it be running at 800MHz, or is it 667MHz because of the CPU/motherboard I've teamed it up with?

Press ctr and f1 when in the bios to enable the advanced bios options (allows you to set memory timings/dividers etc!)

So am I better off RMA'ing the GeIl and getting something else? The GeIL is only a week old!! Is the crucial 10th anniversary the best to get then?

IMO yes, that's what I'd do.

Was going to go for the Geil myself untill my mate had problems and I heard of all the problems on here.

Got my Crucial 10th Anniversary now and currently running at 1000mhz without even pushing it, top stuff!
