Problem with gfx card!

Hey guys so my 9800pro got fried, replaced it with a nvidia 5500 - just to tide it over i know its a crap card!

So what happens is that occassionally (not when playin games) the whole screen will flash black for about 1 second and then resume back to normal.

In games what also happens is that whilst I am playing, the screen will freeze and whole system will lock up and then the monitor will go black and the LED will flash like in standby mode. At this point i have to restart the computer via the button.

Any ideas what the problem is and how to resolve it?

Yep this has just started happening to me recently

Think theres some conflict somewhere with the newest Microsoft updates

Just wait till the next load come out IMO

Hmmm I decided to revert back to SP1 but ill re-upgrade back to SP2 shortly!
Ill also wait for the next batch of updates

When it goes black its almost like its trying to change resolution hmm

Sorry to bring this subject back up from the dead but its really buggin me!!!

The problems are still going on! I have found that under add/remove programmes in control panel that if i scroll up and down the list quickly this will make the screen go black then reappear. This process can be repeated and the problem will occur.

It is as if the monitor is trying to change resolutions...?
Also under display properties it would appear i have 2 monitors - one "default" monitor and then my samsung. The default one is disabled.....

But on the Nvidia control panel it states that it is making adjustments to my 'CRT' monitor..... I don't have one of these.

Iv removed all traces of old ATI drivers i can think of..... anything else i can do?
