Hi all,
I wonder if you guys could help. Just fully assembled an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 system with above board, using 2x512mb Geil DDR2 800, Silverpower 400W PSU, Inno3D7300GT GPU, Samsung 250GB HD, LG DVD Writer, running Win xp Pro. Two things I am having problemwith is:

1) Cpu fan cooler comes on after a minute or two after booting from cold so the cpu fan warning sound comes on for that time, stops when the fan starts spinning - very annoying!

2) There is a low pitch noise coming from mobo just below the I/O bracket/ports, whenever I connect to the Internet, stops when I go out of IE6, the noise comes on also when I use Window Media Player. The noise is abit like a modem noise, kinda interference noise, hard to describe, but it is audiable and quite annoying too. I know inside the case there is allsort whinning noise, from HD, DVD drive, the fans and PSU, but this noise is defintely coming from the mobo area as decribed and just baffles me! I tried reinstalling winows many times, the drivers and bios upgrades etc...but it is still there!

Can some one tell me if their DS4 behave like mine before I go insane and fed up before returning the board to the retailer?? Thanks in advance for any inputs, cheers!

hey
1) If you go into bios and pc health- fan control method, you can change the way the cpu fan works, if you set it to disable the fan will will spin at 100%, and there are some more options but i cant remmember what they do (its all in the instruction manual). you can also disable the warning sound.

2) Sorry i have no idear what that could be, are you shure the noise is coming from the mobo.

Hi, yes, I have disabled the cpu cooler fan failure warning in the bios to stop the warning sound beeping when i first switch the machine on, since the fan is not spinning hence a warning sound, but by disabling it, I have no means of knowing if the cpu cooler does fail without the warning beep!

As with the noise comin from the mobo, i am sure it is from the mobo, 100% certain, aas I said, only when I am connected to the Internet and when I open window media player! Anyone else can shed some light??

Does strike me the mbo noise could just be some sort of weird feedback from your soundcard and the system speaker...or feedback set up by some sort of strange vibration... id tend towards the former as its seems tobe software that triggers it... Try muting the windows output in the windows mixer and see if that makes a difference.. also check the level of your input on the windows mixer move that down and see if the noise ceases...

Hi,
I have disabled both the system speaker and the speaker system that attached to the pc, the noise still comes on in IE6 and in WMP! :(
Emailed Gigabyte and their response was 'Clueless' to my problem!
Will give Scan a call and see if I could return the board, if yes, will try Asus board I think! Just didn't like that response from Gigabyte - 'Clueless' Cheers!

Freedom I had a similar problem to you and found it was a power connector not making proper contact, try resiting all the power connectors.
