Hi, I am having a problem with HDMI on a new shuttle sg33g5. I have attached my TV to the shuttle with HDMI and I can see the boot process and access the BIOS but when I try to boot from win 2008 server cd I get no signal to to the TV. It seems to be isolated to installing win 2008 server because I can install win xp just fine. Does any one have any ideas why this is happening. Thanks

hi, still struggling to understand what going wrong.

Is it possible that windows 2008 server's default resolution for installation screens is higher than my TV can deal with so the TV interprets it as no signal? When I successfully installed xp I noticed the signal coming in from the shuttle was 480p which seems to within the capability of my TV ( 720 I believe ) . Is there a way to change the resolution of windows server with some key combination?

You could try starting it in safe mode and then set the resolution manually or you could try and locate a DVI - HDMI converter or cable as the installation may default to a different input on the card during setup.

After a bit more playing around i am slightly more confident that the problem is my tv not recognizing the resolution from the shuttle. I reinstalled windows which seems to have 640 by 480 as default then changed the resolution to 1024*768 in the display properties. this causes the screen to go blank until windows automatically undid the settings.

Can any one confirm the resolution windows server uses during a full install( after booting from the dvd) . I suspect its higher than 640*480.

Decto thanks for the reply. Do you know how to get into safe mode while booting from the install dvd. I have a dvi to hdmi converter but the only screen i have unfortunately is my tv which only uses hdmi.
