Problem with HL2

Basically on CSS or HL2/Deathmatch whenever I die I get a Red lazer going through. It dissapears after a while but reapears when Im dead.

Anyway I can sort this out?

I think that is a feature of the game on certain servers to show where you got hit from, i may be wrong though.

If its on the server then you can't. Some servers give you the option, my surf regular has a pop up box at the beginning which allows you to choose. But not a lot of servers have them.
