Problem with host alleged DDOS

Wed/Thur last week my host performed a box migration, which caused a short period of down time, this I have no problem with.

Unfortunately shortly after the migration the server status page has been showing a DDOS attack. I can access all sites hosted on the main domain, sub-domains and add on domains, but I have no access to any email accounts on the host, these just time out.

I raised a ticket Monday of this week and the response I got was that the DDOS was being addressed and should be resolved shortly. As of today nothing has changed and I still do not have email access. I will be raising another ticket with the host but I need to know if they are giving me a load of bull about the DDOS and they have just screwed up the box migration.

So would a DDOS be a possible cause of the email access issue bearing in mind that all web sites are accessible?

I do have 2 computers and an iPhone that are online 24/7 and request email, could this just be an over zealous firewall not liking 3 different IPs requesting mail?

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I have made a successful email connection.

For the pop3 server I have been using mail.box360.bluehost.com up until the migration as advised by the host, I have just discovered I can access mail using mail.davidmarq.com which is the main domain.

box360.bluehost.com and davidmarq.com resolve to different IPs.
