Hey, got a problem here that is driving me nuts.

Got a Q6600, Asus P5K Pro and 4Gb RAM, with 4 HDs, 1 system drive, 1 storage, 1 RAID array of 2 x 320Gb disks in RAID0.

Anyway, when i install Vista it all boots fine, i install all the drivers (Intel Chipset and Matrix Storage Manager) and run windows update.

However, if i then reboot the PC and its in RAID mode (which has AHCI on) it'll blue screen with the STOP code 0x00008086. Now, from googling, ive found thats because of a problem with the AHCI. I can now only run windows if i've got the drives set to IDE mode.

Can someone help me with this, is there a bug fix, or a way round this that will stop the damn thing from blue screening, as i'd rather like to have NCQ and all the lovely gubbins that comes with using the AHCI.

Boot up with the Sata in IDE mode..

1. Exit all Windows-based programs.
2. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
3. If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
4. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
5. In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
7. On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.

Reboot and switch to AHCI mode

Worked for me

did this work for you Si? Im having the same damn issues...

:(

and the solution above was one of the first things i tried...

So do you have the BIOS set to IDE mode for the install and then change it to RAID? If so then that's the reason for it crapping itself.

Does you mobo have a second SATA controller, if so then try moving just the system disk to this controller set to IDE mode, disconnect all the other drives, set the main SATA controller to RAID+AHCI, boot up, then install the drivers for the RAID when prompted, shutdown, move the disks over to the RAID and see if it boots without a BSOD.

How do I change this on my Abit IP35.

Set up
1 drive windows
2 drives raid (Games)
1 Drive Storage

In the Abit bios you have 2 that can be set to IDE/RAID/AHCI

I want to keep my Raid, but how do I enable it.
