Problem with Internet connection..

i'm having a problem. my main pc has broken and until i can get it fixed i've borrowed a friend's laptop. for some reason though the internet is playing up.

i connect to the internet through a linksy router (wired) and everything is fine for a while but then the internet just stops working. the strange thing is though that msn works fine (i can talk to people, send and recieve files) but the internet just won't work. it says 'website found, waiting for reply' in the bottom right but no page ever loads.

if i restart the laptop however, everything is fine, the internet works again until it decides to just randomly do the previously described.

anyone have any idea what is wrong?
