Hi,

I have my router plugged into the test socket as that's how I acheive a good speed. However whenever on the phone the internet cuts off, but doesn't disconnect. I just cannot connect to webpages.

Is my Microfilter faulty?

It could be, but also what ISP are you with because this happened to me temporarily with a SKY mess up so wasn't anything to do with my end.

Have you tried phoning them to find out if the service is good?

Has it always been like this?

When did you connect your broadband up?

Sounds like sky if they make you plug it into the test socket. Virgin would just send an engineer out

When I switched to Orange a few years ago I had the exact same problem, they also told me to plug into test socket when I was having problems and when someone would call the house the connection would drop 'sort of' couldnt connect to web pages and game connects/skype would drop for a few seconds. I ended up switch to BE and the problem stopped, so not sure if it was the router they supplied or what.

lolwut.

Most ISPs would get the customer to use the test socket to rule out internal wiring.

OP confirmed it was sky... But yes a lot of ISPs use test sockets, can someone not have a gut feeling without somebody attempting to call them out on something?

Oh and back to OP- I had a similar issue with sky they sent out a new micro filter, did several line tests and didn't resolve the problem, it's still occurring. Check on their website to see if your in an area affected by faults, if not call them up but don't use a mobile, they take your pants down on call charges
