problem with iphone browser, replaces text tone but not receiving any sound when receiving a text

hi,

recently tried to change a text tone for a specific contact on my jb iphone, browsed youtube and came across iphone browser, followed the instructions and got the "new" text tone onto my phone replacing the default no 6 tone.

when i play the sound it plays the new tone i installed, but when the contact text's me i get no sound at all, have i done something daft ?

Using biteSMS or default Messages app? BiteSMS will allow you to change defaults within itself and over ride the one in the settings

got the tone on there, if i click on the replaced tone it plays what i've loaded, it just wont play it when i actually receive a message :confused:

Afraid I don't know then mate, was just a suggestion. Was it renamed properly? Never done this myself but believe it needs to be in a specific format then renamed to .caf I believe? Maybe it can play the file normally (like iPod app can) but its not whats expected when it needs to load it via Messages app?

no worries, yup renamed as mentioned on a number of guides, and plays as a tone on its own just the message app doesnt see it or doesnt like it for some reason and no idea why

I tried doing it manually once, was far too much trouble than it was worth. If your phone is already JB'ed then I highly recommend BiteSMS instead (I just wish they would add even half its features into iOS5

)
