Problem with iTunes

Just installed iTunes on my father PC, XP Pro 2GB RAM dual core. Looks like it installed correctly, as it asked do I want to launch once install is finished. Selected yes, and nothing. Tried opening it from the shortcut, but the windows not responding box comes up.

Any ideas why this is happening?

iTunes for Windows is awful, version 8 doesn't even start on my Windows box currently. It can take anything from 5 seconds to 15 minutes to open.

If your dad is looking to use it for iPod management or listening to music if possible use an older version such as version 6 or 7. Or alternatively use Winamp with the mlipod plugin.

It's strange that it's in such a state. You'd think they'd want what might be many Windows users' first experience with Apple software to be a good one.

Perhaps it requires a hack job to keep the UI looking and behaving the same as the OS X one.

Iam running it fine on my PC.

He is going to use my nano, so needs the functions of iTunes.

Check the processes. Kill ituneshelper and other itunes processes. Restart the software. Did that work?

Alt-tab to check the EULA hasn't come up silently.
