problem with laptop touchpad

Hi,
i am having a problem with the laptops touchpad.I will try to describe it as best I can.
It has started today....it seems to loose its left click function,ie if i left click on the desktop i get the box that appears when you right click and the right click button does nothing...unless I click it very fast twice...in which case it acts like a left click...confused?..me too
The pad itself works ok (except for the tap function on the pas itself..it resembles the above scenario).
I have checked in the options and all pointer options etc are as they should be.
I have only had this laptop for a couple of days...well its for my young daughter......so thought i'd enquire here before taking it back.
Its an Acer Aspire 5022 WLMI.
Also thought I'd mention...on a couple of occassions it has gone into rapid clicking mode on its own (as if the right click was being pressed on and off continuously) ...this also happened when the mouse was plugged in.

have u tried unistalling and then reinstalling the synaptics software drivers?

worth a shot before u return the laptop. hope this helps mate.

I did try that but to no avail...took it back today and got a replacement as it was only a couple of days old.
