This is the second time its happened, two days ago i turned on my pc and for some reason the power button on the monitor keeps slowly flickering and the monitor wont turn on. After a bit of faffing around (restarting the computer and playing with the wires in the back) it started working again.
Now today i was using it i needed to restart my pc after a windows update and now the same problem. Except occasionly it'll get too the windows 7 screen then itll just flicker off and back to black screen and the flashing power button on monitor.

If it makes any difference the colour of the power button when flickering is green.

Just tried plugging my pc into my tv and its working, so i guess its looking like its my monitor?

Ill keep my pc plugged into my tv for a few days to see if im right.

I think your monitor is the problem. It sounds like it is struggling to sync to the input signal, which suggests failing components (especially if it has only just started to fail). You may be able to extend the life of the monitor by trying a different resolution/refresh rate.

Try booting into safe mode. If that works reliably, try different resolutions. You may find you current resolution is borderline and that a slightly lower resolution may be ok.

Good luck...

Well we just tried the blue cable and plugged into the D-Sub socket (blue socket) and now its working. Except i cant get the resolution i had it on, it should be 1280x1024 but the highest i can have now is 1280x768.
So whats the D-sub socket for, as all ive ever used is the dvi socket?

What is the monitor model?

Were you comfortable with the size and resolution or would you want something larger?

An outstanding choice! One of my favourite monitors I've tested in recent times. You won't be disappointed. :)

Im sitting here wondering whether to hit the order button or wait until i go in town friday to see how much money i got.
I know i have enough but on the 3rd of september i got to pay for my college course (£350) and i still think ill have enough but its gonna be close:p

DAMN only 3 in stock.

I get paid this thursday....the 3rd of september is on pay day aswell.

Jesus i got to go work in 15 mins i got to decide.

If i hit the order button, ill have to buy no dvds or games for 2 weeks.

Help me decide.

I HIT THE ORDER BUTTON:D

Cant wait to try it out. For the past 4-5 weeks i had to use my 19" monitor so the difference will be huge and also the picture quality will be a lot better.

Also i preordered some games on steam and they happen to be out this week:
worms reloaded
mafia 2

A brave and hopefully wise decision. If only we could all be that decisive and just hit the order button. ;)
