Hi all,
Recently built a new computer and had a few little problems with it. The specs are:
Intel 2600k (stock speeds)
MSI P67A-GD65
Corsair XMS3 8GB Dual channel 1600MHz RAM
ATI 5850 1GB
Antec Truepower 650Watt
Now some of the problems I've had is with the hard drives. They're all SATA 3GB/sec. I wanted to use some of the ones I had in my previous build. I bought a new HDD with my new build, this is detected fine and works fine. I had a 2TB and 1TB Samsung Spinpoints in my old PC.
The 2TB can also be used fine with this new build, but I don't want to use this one as it has my old windows install for my old build, my parents are going to have that PC.
Now, when I plug in the old 1TB I cannot access it in windows, but it can be seen in the BIOS and in device manager. Anyone got any ideas why I cannot access it? Are there any drivers I need to install? I installed the motherboard drivers for SATA and it's made no difference.
I've heard there's been some problems with the chipset/sata ports on these motherboards. Could it just be that this is affecting this HDD?
My second problems lies with games. When I first built the PC it took a good 30 second plus for a game to begin loading. The screen would go black and flicker back to desktop a couple of times before it actually began to load the game. It would do the same whenever I alt+tabbed or closed the game.
I installed .net framework and that fixed it, but it still does it on random occassions. Could the motherboard have anything to do with this?
I have the latest drivers from ATI, and all the games are clean installs from Steam.
Has there been a recall on these motherboards? Anyone got any clue about the chipset/SATA port problems?
Thanks for any light shed on these problems.
