Long story short......originaly ordered a XL2430T (Dec 2014) which i had back light bleed issues and i was offered an upgrade (which i paid extra for direct to BenQ) to a XL2730Z at the end of Oct-15.
I was under the impression that the upgrade was to a new unit and the first one that came was DOA then the next one arrived a few days later which appeared to be brand new as the box contained everything (cables/manuals/S Switch Arc) where as the previous monitors that i had RMA'd you just sent back the monitor and stand and that was all you got back. Also when i checked the service menu the monitor on time and also the Backlight on time both being 0000hours and 00Min.
So when i had the current issue i assumed it would be covered by the 2 year warranty as i got it Oct-15.
This is the response i got from BenQ support today:
In response to your question, for model XL2730Z there is indeed a warranty of 2 years from date of purchase as NEW unit. Since the unit was a refurbished one and a replacement from another owner, warranty was transferred from that unit automatically. Due to this, the unit in question was covered with warranty till 15/11/2016 and, therefore, no longer under warranty now.
So if the warranty is till 15-11-2016 that means is was sold 15-11-2014 - correct??
Was this monitor released at that point as i though it was some time in 2015?
Also the label on the back of the monitor states the date of manufacture was Feb-2015 so it couldnt have been sold in Nov-2014.
I know its a long shot but would you agree that if you paid to upgrade the monitor you would assume it was new as they never mentioned that it would be a refurbished one?
