Hi,

first my Specs:

PSU: Antec High Current Gamer HCG-900
Mainboard: AsRock Z87 Pro4
CPU: Intel i7 4770k Stock
RAM: TridentX 16GB 2400MHz
GPU: Palit GTX 970 Jetstream

CPU Temps during the Problems(depends on load): max 65c
GPU Temps during the Problems: 76c-78c seems to be normal for a Palit GTX 970 Jetstream

Now the Problem:
A few days earlier i played some PUBG when during the game my screen went black(no signal) and the sound is still working, PC still running, no strange noises, bluescreens etc but i had to restart, it doesnt went back to normal..

after i have restarted my pc everything is running normal for the rest of the day, the next day i wanted to play again and after 15minutes the same blackscreen occurs, but this time the sound is distorted.. well i restarted again, it worked, i continued playing for 1minute and blackscreen.. but this time the screen stays black when i try to boot up the pc, keyboard and mouse doesnt light up, no reaction i think it stucks in the boot..

my friend gave me his gtx 760, i played few days with it.. but sometimes blackscreens still occur under windows with nearly no load and while playing.. i also tried starting the pc with my gtx 970 it went on 1 time and after restart still blackscreen..

what i tried so far:

BIOS Reset via Jumper, Cleaning the Card from some Dust, starting PC with the iGPU(no GPU installed, working), a friend gave me his GTX 760(working, but!!! Blackscreens still occur randomly in Windows and playing), pushing whole system to 100% with stability test(no blackscreen)..

I dont have a Idea which could be the Problem, i dont think my 970 died.. had no Problems before..

Sorry for my English :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Some people are experiencing blackscreens or black screen flashing (temporarily and randomly) and it does not seem to be hardware related but a Windows/Windows update issue. Actually had someone contact me yesterday for help with the same or a very similar issue. No problems with stress tests/some games that push that the video card. Just random black flashing. He tried a few things - different monitor (same issue), different cable (same issue), reinstalling the graphics driver, reinstalling Chrome (and disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome). But the last thing he did was disable hibernation, and he told me no more blackscreens since (still too early to say if just coincidence or not).

So you can try disabling hibernation and see how it goes?

Open a Command Prompt (Admin):

powercfg -h off

Reboot.

Do you have the latest bios for your motherboard? Version 2.30 is the latest and can be downloaded here. Sometimes a motherboard bios update can fix what could be a compatibility problem between the board and gpu.

So i tried turning off Hibernate, didnt help.. just a random Blackscreen while browsing and hearing Music, my Mainboard has the latest BIOS Update installed..

My next Step would be reinstalling Windows maybe its a driver issue or something.. but this wont help my GTX 970 because as i already said it wont even boot with the gtx 970 built in :/?

Win10 fast booting is disabled.. and didnt help..

Today i used Camtasia Studio, the Screen went black after a few seconds and went back normal with a Error Message from Camtasia Studio: "Failed to create video memory ressource", as i know the GTX 760 from my Friend is only used for Movies etc he had no Problems with the Card, after i closed the error message i tried to reproduce what occurs the black screen and after fast forwarding through the video the screen went black..

When you did the BIOS reset, did you apply XMP to the RAM to make it 2400MHz again, or did you leave it at stock (1600MHz should be)?

Try disabling hardware acceleration on your browser. If you have Chrome, uninstall and try Firefox with hardware acceleration disabled.

Have you tried turning off Game Mode in Windows? Have you tried a different monitor? Have you tried using a different port on the same monitor?
