Problem with my NEC Optical Drive

Hello there.

Today doesn't seem to be a good day for me and my new PC.

I did my first overclock today and for some reason my 3D Mark 05 score is now lower than it was at stock...

Anyway, I have now come acorss a problem with my NEC AD5170 18x18 DVD±RW Drive. I have had no problems with it before. Everytime I put a disc into the drive, be it a DVD or CD, absolutely nothing happens. The disc doesn't even begin to spin and doesn't even show up in My Computer.

I have only just noticed this problem since I have done my overclock today but I don't see why this would cause my optical drive from not recognising any CDs and DVDs...

Another thing which I might add just in case it has something to do with it... Everytime I start up XP, a message comes up saying:

'The software you are instaling for this hardware:

GIGABYTE GBB36X Controller

has not passed Windows Logo Testing...'

So I click Continue then another message comes up saying:

The file 'jraid.sys' on JMicron Driver Diskette is needed

I don't know if this has any relevance but I thought I'd post it up anyway just in case...

Thanks for the help in advance

Regards,
-Rob.

Hmmm thats strange as you said it was working fine before the overclock...

Though it may be linked to what you said about the controller. It looks like a controller on your mobo seems to be uninstalling itself somehow

You could try updating your motherboard drivers, is it a fresh install?

Hey thanks for the reply.

With regards to updting the drivers, how would I go about doing this if most of the drivers I need are on the CD which came with my Mobo?

I must be missing something here as I cannot understand why my CD Drive won't recognise or even do anything when I put something in it... And it has been working fine up to today...

Regards,
-Rob.

Right, I've been looking around the interweb and it seems the reason I can't get any action from my CD/DVD Drive is cos I'm missing the GIGABYTE GBB36X Controller. Now, this is going to be on my Mobo Driver CD but seeing as I can't get onto that right now, how am I going to find the GIGABYTE GBB36X Controller driver? Again, I've had a search but nothing is coming up...

Kind regards,
-Rob.
