The power cable on my old case was just 1 plug that i plugged in to the motherboard, the power plug for my new case was in different cables, it had three 2 pin cables and one 3 pin cable they were labled RESET SW, POWER SW, POWER LED, HDd LED, LED.

i DONT NO HOW THESE 5 CABLES GO ONTO THE POWER SWITCH CAN SOMEONE HELP PLEASE

Cheers people

Liam

Read your motherboard manual.

If you don't have the one you got with your motherboard then it should be on the manufacturers site.

look on the motherboard where the row of pins is, it should (if it's in anyway standard and not Dell), have them marked out.

You need to look for the following marked pins on the motherboard

pwr = power, doesn't matter which way round it connect
rst = reset same as power
spkr = speaker, same as power
hdd = hdd led - needs to go the right way but won't hurt it if it doesn't (it just won't light up)
pwr led = power led, same as hdd.

i had a look on the packerd bell website, could not find anything though, i have the 1506 model if it helps.

Im sorry i just dont get it, in my old case it was 1 plug that went into the power switch and this 1 has 4 seperate plugs POWER SW 2 PIN ITS RED & BLACK, POWER LED 3 PIN ITS GREEN & WHITE, LED ITS YELLOW AND WHITE, RESET SW ITS BLUE AND WHITE.

The power connecter looks like this im sure you no but i'll do this anyway.

Ive got the asrock Conroe945G and had the exact same problem, None of those have sockets on the keyboard.

This is the site for the motherboard you have. Well it should be.

http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=374&l1=3&l2=11&l3=146

I'm trying to find the motherboard manual on the site but it's being a bit stubborn, I'll keep trying.

Hope this has helped at all.

:EDIT: Have found it, I'll upload it somewhere friendlier if I can... this site's being a tart.

That should sort your problems regarding +/- polarity stuff.

In my experience the positive is usually the coloured wire and there will be a small triangle on the plastic part of the connector.

well thanks guys i now knwo why my hdd light isnt working! its the wrong way round! i wondered when putting it in which way round it goes, well i thank you very much indeed.

I'm really not sure about that one, the ground should be easy enough just to stick in, and it shouldn't matter if you get anything the wrong way round it just wont work. You wont kill anything by sticking it in the wrong way. Try a combination of different ways round to see how things work.

Painfully by looking at that 3 pin empty middle jobby it seems that mobo is using an older standard, but I could be very wrong so just give it a go, nothing to lose :p

Having the problem with a VIA KT400, A KT600 MOBO

What you've described there is a chipset, not a mainboard.

Any idea on the actual motehrboard you have? Here is a link to the download page for VIA mainboards

cheers for your help guys i just do not understand whay the power sw is on a 3 pin head when it only has 2 wires in it, may be its an error with the cableing i dont no but it just dont make sence going to have to send the case back now i think as its no good
