PRoblem with new A64 Mobile CPU and Memory?

Hello, got a very wierd problem that I dont understand nor experienced, quick spec of rig as is:

Msi Neo Platinum board (skt754)
Ati X1950 pro 512mb (1gp)
Thermaltake butterfly 500w PSU
Kingston Hyper X 3400 (DDR400) memory (2x1GB)
2x HDD SATA
2X DVDRW Roms (IDE seperate channel)
Ninja Scythe Cooler

Recently Added AMD64 754 3700+ Mobile (2.4ghz)
(previously AMD64 754 3000+ 2ghz)

Now the only thing I have changed is CPOU everything is the same and everything workind fine until CPU Change.

The PC will only boot if memory is in DDR Slot 1 it will not boot from any other slot (i.e.2/3) nor if it is slot 1 and another slot. I swapped memory sticks to rule this out, Bios is latest version, I have reset bios to default, I tried changing timings/settings, CPU temps are 10 deg lower than before and nada.

Any ideas??

I know you are going to suggest swap cpu back but would rather not if avoidable.

Is there a known issue or anything or have I borked the memory slot removing memory?

Try the other cpu

Could be a dud memory controller on the newer cpu or the fact its a Mobile cpu causing some conflicts with the board.

upgrade bios... MSI K8N is quite an old board and maybe not have the bios to support the newer processor.

What core is the Mobile? Clawhammer?
My old Clawhammer mobile needed the ram to be at 2T before it would boot, you tried that?

I used to have a mobile 3400+ Clawhammer in that board and it worked with no problems. Maybe try the memory at 333 or 200 just to see if you can get it working that way?

yep tried all the different memory options/speeds/volts/settings

seems like thats what ill have to do, if it is the case can it be fixed?

Right..... Swapped CPU and memory works in bank 1 & 3 as before. So seems like its the 'New' Cpu related...... Is there any compatibility issues about?? Or is there a problem with the CPU??
