Problem with new build

Hi, i just bought a new upgrade for my pc from overclockers, basically out with the old in with the new.

Asus P5N32-E PLUS SLi nForce (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
OCZ GameXStream 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

So i went about taking the old stuff out, installing the new stuff all as usual as i have done many times. I made sure everything was connected properly, and finally i got to boot it up.
Firstly it switched on, then went off. So i booted it up again and got into the BIOS (its either me or the bios im not used to but it seems god awfully slow at booting up, no idea what problem would justify this). I set the Hard Drive to boot etc etc everything was fine, but it wouldnt boot, it ended up on a blank screen which may have been due to my RAM being too fast for the mobo (i bought 1066Mhz and it only supports 800Mhz).
SO i switched off, went back into bios, but then every time i went past the section labelled "Power" in the BIOS, it would freeze and i had to restart. I've never seen a BIOS crash so i have no idea why it would do it. Then i cleared the CMOS cache, put the jumpers back in position, switched on the PC to a very unwelcome electrical sounding 'Pop'. Now nothing worked, it just wouldnt boot.

I went back to my old hardware, using stuff that was all working fine before i bought the new stuff, but still i just couldnt get the PSU to engage even though it should be working, i tried different plug sockets and cables but still nothing.
The way i see it is that the only thing that i kept over between the two builds is the case, is it possible that the power switches/etc that connect to the motherboard have blown up and ceased to work? This is the only explanation i can come to, but i have no idea how to test if my PSU's still function or whether there is any extensive damage, i dont really have access to another case unless i dismantle a friends pc, and they wouldnt want that.

That was a bit of an essay, so, anyone offer any help?

oh and the case is a rather old Chieftec Dragon midi tower, no idea if i can replace parts of it or not.

Whoops that was stupid.

I have now found out the brand new OCZ PSU is actually faulty, having blown up 3 kettle leads' fuses, and also the fuse leading to my uni room so none of the plugs work till tomorrow when i can get someone to get to the fusebox.

This is stupid, does anyone have any idea what possibility other components were damaged?
