Problem with new gtx280

Got a nice new shinny xfx gtx 280 today. Plug in with 2 x 6 pin power and cant get a image and the fan wont spin. Anything anyone can suggest before I RMA it? Going to try in a mates PC 2morow to be sure.

I have a Coolmaster 620W PSU
Q6600 GO at stock speed
SSD
HDD
1 DVD drive


So I think that fine on power front?

but instructions say ok to use just 2 x 6 pin, that not correct? Surly the fan should come on with 2 x 6 pin? Doesn't work in my mums pc either (tho psu hasn't got any power leads) and card shows a red light

Well of course not, the power sockets on the card are there for a reason

Was just trying to see if even the fan would spin

Surely my 620w be enough? There's a guy on XS with a 400w psu powering one

I have a 6 to 8 pin cable i found put it in and she works. Cheers all. Water cooling going in 2morow

I do feel a wally not using a 8 pin, but i was sure i read u could use it with 2 x 6 pin on forums

How the **** do you take the stock heatsink fan apart? any screws or is it like instructions say and just prize and pull? Seems rather dangerous i cant get mine done
