Hello,

I've jsut built a lovely rig using a 6600 Conroe and an Asus P5W64. I have two issues:

1] The system doesn't seem to boot up as fast as my Barton 2500+. I imagined it would be faster given that it has twice the RAM and a much faster processor. I'm going to follow the tweaks in the sticky, but is there anything obvious to look out for?

2] I appear to have cocked things up a little when installing Windoze. The slave disk needs to be connected to the PC in order for the system to boot. I think somehow it has put the boot sector on the slave. How do you recommend I recover this without having to go through the palaver of installing windows again?

3] My old Barton score 2300 3DMarks on 3DMark06. The new Conroe scores 5509. This seems a bit low! have I got something throttled down by mistake possibly?

Thanks in advance!!

Update:

I had the raptor (OS Disk on Channel 2 master) and the slave disk on channel 1 slave.

I think this confused windows.

When I put the master disk on channel 1 master and left the slave on channel1 slave, it now gives the error: "NTLDR is missing".

So I think somehow the boot files are cacked. I think that's the technical term.

I can get it to boot by putting the boot files on the Raptor. Still takes quite a while to get my to Windows and the mouse pointer, tho.

I've already installed a lot of stuff on the new PC. I'm therefore loathe to reinstall windows and all the faffery that entails. If it helps in the long run to just bite the bullet, then I will.
