I've just got a new PC from overclockers and i cant get windows working. I've tried them on the phone but been sent off to sort it myself  so thought I'd ask you kind chaps for a bit of help.

Spec's of new system
- AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice CPU
- AMD approved cooler
- Asus A8N-E nForce4 Ultra PCI-Express Motherboard
- GeIL 1GB Value (2x512MB) DDR PC3200 CAS2.5 Dual Channel Kit
- 160GB Western Digital Serial ATA-2 8mb Cache Hard Drive
- XFX NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT XXX 256MB DDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card
- NEC ND4570 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter
- Onboard 6 Channel Audio
- Floppy Drive
- Antec SLK3800B-UK Silent Midi Tower Case
- Antec 400W Silent ATX Power Supply
(although the power supply in the pc is actually a 350 O_o)

Okay the problem. I boot up, put in my windows CD and get into setup. Sometimes it says "corrupt file" with my windows but a reboot fixes that. Once in I go to partition. The hard drive space is only 130gb as opposed to 160 but i hear thats typical for windows and is fixed in service packs. No worries then, I continue on.

Go to format and on quick it gets to 100% and then gives an error about corrupt hard drive or incorrectly fitted etc. On full install it does this at 0%. "Damn" i think and after trying different sata ports I decide to put in my old IDE hard drive and see what happens. Go into windows setup and scrub linux to free up a lump for new windows (about 15gb) as a quick fix. Go to format that (NTFS or something is what i've been using) and i get the same error. I know for sure that the hard drive isnt corrupt as I'm using it now.

I tried putting linux on the new hard drive and that failed (froze just after lisence screen copying a driver (seemed hard drive related). I also tried booting off my nvidia cd and creating sata discs but i've ended up with a dozen corrupt floppies...

Rang tech support and they've had me swap ram to no luck and downloaded data lifeguard for the HDD. created bootable floppy discs (4 in total) but each of them failed when trying to boot to new computer with corrupt files in 2 and in the others it said something about memerror and something else but the screen disappears before i have chance to read it.

Oh final thing, everything is okay in the bios from inspection.

Has anyone got any ideas? Doesnt seem to be HDD, memory or SATA ports. Looks like I'm going to be taking my brand new PC to a repair shop already :(

Edit: I installed windows about half a dozen times on my old PC, which i'm currently using. Also I do have a computing degree so I'm no total newb, unlike what i was informed by guy on phone,,, sorry moving swiftly on... many thanks in advance for any help.

yeah but i dont have a floppy disc. whenever i try making one with the nvidia tools provided they end up corrupted :(

Typical... i buy a new PC cos this one really isnt working (having to go on a GeForce 2 after radeon literally broke and I spend more time in safe mode than standard windows boot) and end up worse off!

if anyone has any more suggestions it would be much appreciated. I've not been able to sort anything since posting as I graduated today, which took up a lot of time socialising, organising and so forth.
