Hi everyone I have had nothing but brilliant help and advice from this forum ( despite my utter uselessness!) so this is the 1st place I thought of to help with my problem.

I have a set of Logitech Z4 speakers that I was using on my old pc. Got my new one today and everything is fine apart from the sound is playing through my LCD monitor as oppose to through the speakers!

Thanks in advance for your help people!

:)

Things to check:

- Line-out jack (usually green in colour)
- Are you using onboard sound or a PCI card like an X-Fi?
- Which card do you have as your preferred card in sound options?

God how to say this the nice way? Erm... Im an idiot?

I checked the control panel but didn't really know what I was looking for so just closed that.

The light green jack from the speakers and sub is plugged into the corresponding colour at the back of the case. This is labelled as "mic out" though so I tried every other jack and still no sound.

"Are you using onboard sound or a PCI card like an X-fi?" - Usually I wouldn't have a clue when being asked this but I'm pretty sure it's an X-fi as when I opened it up to re-plug a loose optical drive I vaguely remember seeing a huge thing that as far as I can remember said X-fi.

On my reciept my motherboard is being quoted as being a Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P. However, I think they have actually put a different mobo in. The box calls it the "Crosshair III Formula" motherboard. The fact this is made by Asus also makes me think it's different ;-) .

Im pretty sure, after some research, that they may have done this as the originally stated mobo does not support DDR3 1600Mhz? Can anyone confirm that?

"Which card do you have as your preferred card in sound options? " - Erm... what??

ok got it u got the PCI X-FI sound card which cmes wid almost evry Asus ROG mobo, i again say,go to ur sound card properties and c if it is enabled or nt,bcuz m preety much sure that its been disabled, second thing is that u need to put the speakers pin in line out jack, nt in mic,
abt ram thn it reads in its specs lyk this "Max. 16 GB, DDR3 1600(OC)/1333/1066" , i hope u got the answer, and i hav seen couple of vdos on utube ppl running 1600mhz ram on this mobo
