Problem with Nvidia drivers - washed out colours?

Hi everyone.

I have only used AMD cards in the past and have recently just switched over to Nvidia by installing a GTX 460.

However, after uninstalling the amd drivers and using driver sweeper to get rid of all traces of the drivers/registry files etc, and installing the latest nvidia driver, the first thing I noticed immediately was how everything looked slightly washed out than usual - especially how the colour black was now grey instead of true black and the funny thing was, if I set the resolution to 1600x900 instead of 1920x1080, the colours were perfect again!

The 460 is connected to both my HDTV and 1080p LED monitor so the issue does not lie with the the display setup and after messin around with the setting on the nvidia controll panel, I still haven't found a solution.

I did a quick search on google and there are others that have posted how shocked they are that to this day there isn't a fix.

Have any of you guys experienced this problem and is there any advice you can offer that may assist me in resolving the problem?

Cheers

Look for digital vibrancy option in colour settings in control panel, put it to around 60-70% then you should see a decent difference.

Connection to the display is via mini-hdmi to hdmi. Have also tried both dvi outs on the GPU and the results are exactly the same.

I tried out a gtx 260 a while back on my set-up and the problem was exactly the same - washed out colours. I also remember downloading an older nvidia driver and there were no problems what so ever with the colours and black levels.

I'm just surprised that 2 years down the line nvidia still have sorted the problem out yet.

Apparantly, when I set my screen res to my native tv/monitor res 1920x1080, the gpu is displaying the limited (16-235) range where as if I set it to 1600x900, for some reason it is displaying the full pc range of (0-255) and the colours are fine.

Does anyone know how I can force my desktop and 3d apps to run at full (0-255)?
