For anyone reading the thread I assume you are doing so because of how damn good this game was and still is. I decided to dig it out the other day and was merily playing my way through it experiencing absolutely no problems at all. Then I came to a particular mission (Core Mission 18) which would not load. Instead the game goes through about half of the items on the pre-game load screen then....black screen and of course 'Total Annihhilation has stopped working' etc. I tried messing around doing all the different screen resolutions when trying to play this level. Tried changing the difficulty. Nothing makes it work.
So I decided to play it on my laptop to see if it would work on that. And, no. Still the same error. Having got frustrated at this I thought I'd try the Arm campaign to see if that works. I get to the eighth mission on this campaign when the same damn thing happens. I could maybe understand if the change of missions also meant a change in the environment i.e. the mission was on a different planet meaning different textures etc but both mission changes take place on the same planet. So seriously what the hell? If anyone could gimme some advice here I'd love it. My guess is it's gonna be something to do with Vista.....
Seeing as I've tested both campaigns on my desktop and my laptop and I get the same problem I highly doubt that it's a hardware problem but I'll include my system specs anyway just to be thorough. Desktop is in my signature (running it on Vista Home 64bit). Laptop is Core 2 Duo, Vista Ultimate 32bit, Geforce GO 7400.
Thanks for reading.
