Problem with Overclock

Hello all,

I'm rather embarrassed to ask this but I require some help with my overclock. Essentially the settings are failing to stick no matter what sort of clock I set. In the past I've been able to run my cpu at approximately 3.1GHz but now it will refuse to run at anything other than stock (1.8GHz). I've tried the settings that have previously worked for me and I've tried applying a small clock increase of just 50MHz along with everything in between but with no joy, it keeps reverting to stock.

System Specs:
Motherboad: Gigabyte 965P-DS3P Rev 3.3
CPU: Intel e6320
RAM: 4GB OCZ PC6400 DDR2 800MHz
OS: Win 7 64bt

This machine used to be perfectly stable 24/7 with the previous clock but I'm not sure when it stopped working, or why. I haven't made any hardware changes recently bar installing a new hard-drive though I doubt that would have had an effect.

I'd really appreciate any help you guys and gals can offer on this,
Antar.

Bios is on the latest release, version 12 or something like that though I have yet to try reflashing it. I'll probably give that a shot over the weekend.

I had thought that there might be some degradation to the CPU but the fact that it wasn't accepting any clock indicates there might be something else at play. For what it's worth it had been running at that speed for roughly the last four years. Voltage is about 1.65V I think though I'll have to double check.

RAM voltage is 2.1, the recommended for this set.

All the voltages were still at the settings I had them at but the clocks had reset. Since they though I've played about with them to no success.

The CMOS clear and reflash worked. I can now clock again! Cheers for the tips guys. Only problem now is that I need to go through the whole testing phase again since it's been so long. Oh well, at least my days entertainment is covered.
