I'm trying to fix a friends computer at the moment but I've run into some problems that I can't work out.
Firstly the PSU had died, so got a new one in there now but this has now thrown up a new problem. Apon pluging the PSU in, the system automatically starts up and runs for about 5 seconds (gets to the point where you can just see the bios screen) then turns straight off and won't turn back on again until you unplug the psu for 10 seconds or so.
I've never had a P4 system myself so maybe this is normal procedure if somethings wrong but I was just hoping someone here might be able to enlighten me as to what exactly is wrong?
There's no beeps when it boots up, it appears to be fine but then it just turns off. Tried resetting the CMOS and all that but so far has had no effect. I'm starting to wonder if the old psu has done some damage before it died.
The spec is:
P4 3.06ghz with HT
MSI MS-6714 Ver 2 Motherboard
512mb DDR memory
If anyone has any suggestions they'd be greatly appriciated,
