Hi,

I thought I would post here before I properly get in touch with overclockers to see if anyone has had this problem or has any suggestions.

My setup is as follows:
CPU: Intel QX6700
Mobo: Asus P5N-e SLI
Video: Nvidia 8800gtx
Sound: Creative X-Fi
Ram: OCZ 2x1Gb PC2-6400

Basically the problem is this: until two days ago I had a working system which had been running well for ~6 months. However upon booting the other day the system froze at the motherboard splash screen. I could hit DEL and enter setup but it didn't appear to render correctly and I couldn't move the cursor or update anything.

The only recent change in the system is that I upgraded the BIOS to 0602 but that was about 2 weeks ago now. I've tried to reset the CMOS by removing the battery and setting the appropriate jumper but that didn't seem to have any effect at all :-(

I'm thinking if I don't get any suggestions here then I'll probably have to RMA it (I think via overclockers since Asus don't appear on the manufacturers list on their support page).

Any suggestions welcome,
Thanks

were you overclocking it?

im pretty certain ive had the same problem with my p5n32-e from using the overclocking presets on the BIOS, I cant remember how it fixed though....

No everything was running at stock speeds. Also the CD seems to be active even though it's frozen. It tries to read for about a minute while it's stuck on the splash screen.

Unplug any usb devices. Mine freezes at POST if i have my card reader plugged in. Only happens since i put 0602 BIOS on it

Thanks, but that didn't seem to work either. Unfortunately my keyboard is USB and the mobo doesn't seem to like PS2 keyboards. I've tried striping everything out of it but nothing seems to work really. I've even tried other graphics cards/memory.

Oh well looks like I'll just get in touch with overclockers and try and get an RMA.

Thanks for the help everyone.
