Ok where do i start!
I have moved out and havnt been on my beloved pc for ages, i have been using either a laptop or my newly acquired G5 to do any work or browsing.
I have just this minute set up this PC and have encountered a problem! The last time i used this PC was about a month ago or even longer. I started her up got to the Windows XP bit with the scrolling bar and then i get a BSOD, thinking it was a BIOS fault i looked into the BIOS lowered the clock.
Still didnt work, so i took the cmos battery out and totally whipped the BIOS. Started up and it still doesnt work. On closer inspection of the BSOD error it says something about that my current BIOS doesnt fully support ACPI instructions or something along those lines and says press F7 when reformating to stop ACPI. I tried to reformat before this and still crashes, i then tried this F7 method and get further but doesnt BSOD it just crashes.
Im pretty much stuck. Do i try to get a updated BIOS when im over a mates or do i buy a new chip, could the chip be bust?
This has never happened to me before!?!? The computer was working fine before.
P.S i have reseated the HSF aswell with new paste to see if the paste had gone hard.
Many thanks for an input!
Josh
