I just got a brand new build with Windows 7 Pro. The first thing I
noticed is that the Asus BIOS screen shows no hard drives detected, yet
left alone everything boots up just fine.

i have connected the hd and dvd burner to the ICH10R southbridge.

swapped them about to no avil.

what am i doing wrong. do i need to change anything in the bios... i.e

Configure SATA as IDE, RAID, and AHCI change from ide to sata ?

i have tried this as well but no results...

it seems to affect the system, and it runs very sluggish...

i have this overclocked bundle Krypton Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle

the speed vary in different apps.

using CPU-Z the core speed is 2290.8MHz which is slower than the 2.80 speed of the chip and even slower than the overclock.
i have notices that it goes from the multipiler 12 to 21 all the time... not sure why. is this the auto boost ? even though it is oc'ed

using Everest clock speed is 4009 MHz per thread.

using the windows system menu shows the speed is 2.80 MHz

what is going on. is the motherboard nuts or what.

ICH10R Southbridge SATA - 6 ports
Marvell 88SE9128 SATA 6Gb/sec - 2 ports

Ok why the devices arnt appearing I dont have the awnser. But check for any other menus for that controller.

The CPU is going up and down in clock because of speedstep. Turn that off and it should stay at the overclock.

ahhh... thanks for the cpu prob... kinda of annoying when i`m converting stuff and the time jumps all the time.

it is i suppose a superfical thing that the bios can`t find the hard drive, but the system loads up as normal. i`ll fix the speedstop,, at least the system won`t be as sluggish then. thanks

It should be particulary sluggish as the multiplyer should jump up when the power is needed.

On my p45 Asus board on my server I found some HD's werent appearing as it depended where they were plugged into. Check your manual to see what the sata ports would do. Or just plug them in all blue then all white depending on the sata port colours.

I think the "no hard disks detected" refers to you not having anything connected to the Marvell 88SE9128 SATA 6Gb/sec ports. If you go into the BIOS and go to configure onboard devices, you can change Marvell 9128 to disabled which will get rid of the message.

yeah.. when i get back home i`m going to set the multiplier to 21.

i thought it might be a bug as it went from 12 to 21 and back again repeatedly. i thought my computer had dyslexia(!)
i have got them all on white as that is the sata 3gb/s, the blue one is the 6gb/s one.

thanks for the confidence, will check this out when i get back home. it is more annoying to see it. if it never showed that error i would be just as happy.

another vote for that!

Hey guys, i dont know how to make a new thread so i thought i could post here. Im not trying to hijack the thread or anything, its just I have the same motherboard as this guy and am using windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Basically i dont know whats happened but i have no sound coming from my motherboard onboard sound anymore. I was replacing my old speakers with some new ones and now the onboard sound has stopped working. To check that the speakers were working I tried the new speakers aswell as the ones i replaced on my laptop, they work fine with no problems. I have updated to the realtech drivers but this didn't sort out the problem. I have also checked in the bios to see if high definition audio is enabled and it is.

I unistalled the real tech drivers to see if this may work but it didnt help. In sound-manage audio devices, It says " speakers, high definition audio device, " this is greyed out. Then underneath it says "not plugged in". there is a red arrow in a grey circle pointing down. It is the same either with something plugged in or without i have tried all the different audio connections on the computer but nothing has worked. Is there a cable that i need to reconnect on my motherboard? Any help would be much appreciated, im really confused, i just installed my custom loop and was ready to start gaming, now this has happened. Man seems like £1800 well spent......
