The streaming option for HD has stopped working for BBC Iplayer. When I go into the smart TV menu it loads up slow. I can watch a HD program in standard definition if I switch the HD option off. But what is the point having a HD TV if you cant watch HD stuff.

The U-Tube app steams clips fine, All the test connection comes back clear and fine. I as thinking of getting Apple TV for £100 as it has it all over the poorly done and lacking Viera stuff in the TV. They call it a smart TV but it’s a big let down. Great TV otherwise.

I was about to post this exact issue...maybe its an issue with iPlayer and Panasonics at the moment?

Mine was working fine Friday night but since then...nothing, very frustrating!

Some tests I did:

via wifi my laptop streamed the same program at the same time as my TV in HD, so I know iPlayer is functioning correctly in that aspect and that my internet connection is fine.

Unplugged it for 10 minutes completely, no joy still.

Any help appreciated!

Erm. Yeah. That's not good.

Only one program available on the BBC HD channel that I can see for last night (Natural World). Just selected it and my TV rebooted itself. (2011 42" G30).

Same one plays fine through the PS3.

I'm trying to watch Africa, and like the OP I switch it to HD and nothing works.

Knowing its not just me BBC must've changed something recently and Panasonic need to update their displays.

However, normal HD TV Channels work fine.

Going to do some digging on this tonight if nobody has an answerm :)

Not that I expect to find anything ground breaking ;p

Sad but in a way I'm glad it's not just me. The smart TV will always be a letdown when none of the other catch up TV channels are not on it.
Back on topic I watched Topgear last night fine as its not on the iplayer in HD same with being human. Standard deff is fine.

Working now :) edit no it's off again :( I got wonders of the universe on HD to start came out and tried something else I knew was also in HD and it failed :( went back and wonders fails again :(

Yeah back on the HD :) poor that it can go down like that all the same.

I just wish it had Itv Players and the rest as its a let down as is.

Works fine on mine - not much choice though, it says HD not available on a lot the progammes in the HD section.

Yeah it was a fault with BBC iplayer since Friday, nothing that was HD was playing. Today it seems all to be working again. Nice when you can come on a site like this and find it not just you but everybody.
Very disappointed with the smart side of the TV:mad:. Thinking of getting Apple TV wee box for it as it works fantastic and offers all the catch up TV channels.

I'm sorry but what exactly are you after that it doesn't offer?

You were happy with it till it stopped working with 3 days now you're moaning about it like an old woman who's just lost her bus pass :p

Before you buy any TV you can find out with a little google-fu exactly what SMART channels/apps are available, so surely this is your own fault for being annoyed with it now you have bought it?

SMART TV is still a very new tech...you know England is years behind everyone else, give it time :p

Itv player might come after june, when samsungs exclusivity runs out.

Its always funny when people moan about it, tbh panasonics offering is poor, and is always one thing i mention to potential buyers, but hopefully things will change now they are part of the smart alliance.

That gave me a chuckle! I guess the saying if you’ve not got anything worth to add just don’t bother comes to mind.

I never said I was happy with the smart TV as I’ve said I'm very disappointed with it after two years still all down to Panasonic just being found lacking when it comes to the Viera Smart part. "What exactly are you after"
Erm what seems to be regarded as the basics from all the other manufacturers for a start ?

I knew exactly what I was getting with my TV right down to what model before I even walked into the shop to see it in the flesh. I had to simply except that at the time of purchase my model was the best LCD for picture quality with the smart TV as an bonus and surly it would improve offering more over time I thought.

Friend has a newer more expensive model form my TV and got the Apple TV connected straight up to it as the Panasonic’s own Smart TV was to put it bluntly **** compared to what the wee Apple box can do and rightly so in his view.

In my case the Smart TV has two usable things. BBC I Player and U-tube. Nothing else remotely looks of any use. Less of a smart TV more just an after thought by Panasonic to say they have it rather than making it any good.:o

After all I think everyone will agree its poor. I’d be happy just with getting the on demand regular channels for catch up without even mentioning the Apple box ****ing on the inbuilt Smart service from a very high height over streaming music stations and pictures and films and ease of use. :D

But views aside the Thread was about the failure of really the only thing I can use the smart part for and that was to catch up on BBC iplayer HD. As they have never got round to finding or fixing the sound problem with U-tube afteer months (As there wee apologetic paragraph explains) yet it gets concerning when even more of the service fails. :)

Itv player might come after june, when samsungs exclusivity runs out.

Cheers for the Info I might lay off the Apple TV to see if it does come. Funny how Apple have it then????

Not quite sure why you're having a go at Panasonic. All the Smart TV platforms of the era are equally as limited.

Refusing to add Netflix to the 2011 range was bad form, other than that it's been pleasantly usable.
