Problem with PING imaging

I'm running WinXP Pro. I want to image one partition of my HDD, which is split into 3 partitions. The image can go to an external HDD, a DVD or another partition of the internal HDD, I don't mind.

When booting, PING detects my drives, including the external HDD connected via USB. However, when it gets to the menu for creating or restoring an image, it detects only one drive with only one partition with enough space to repartition the drive. Since my primary partition is only 8.78GB and has only 1.6GB free space, it obviously isn't detecting that.

I have no idea what's going on. It would help if I could save the log, but to where? And, I'm embarrassed to admit, how?

Of course, I could pay £20 and buy Acronis True Image 10 from Amazon, but it's a challenge now :)

I'e just found out that a renamed Acronis True Image is available free from Seagate...for Seagate drives. Bah. I have a Samsung drive.
