Got this old B3 stepping q6600 here, its also come with a problem, in that, when i boot the machine up and regardless of what happens it says the cpu is burning up at 60'c all the time.

However, i put the machine into sleep and straight away come out of it, it says the cpu is ticking over at 32c and everything is fine.

Is it my ip35-e at fault, or a common problems that i am overlooking with the q6600?

B3's run hot anyway. I'll go out on a limb and say 60'c isnt that bad for one of them, if its close to full load.

it's probably a sensor issue, what are you using to monitor temps ?

try realtemp or everest

Those temps are at idle, it works fine after it comes out of sleep, indivual cores are at 45c each with the cpu saying its 32-35, its why it only sorts itself out after it comes out of sleep is what i want to know.

The 6750 i had in here didnt do this.

speedfan, abit guru.

And the fans spin like crazy, unless i send it to sleep then wake it up again then all is fine.
The tempreture is not the real issue, its why it thinks its running hot when it isnt, after a cold boot.

Clearly seems like the temperature is being reported wrong and theres a bug or something.

A motherboard BIOS update usually fixes this sort of stuff.

Tried that, i think the motherboard is a bit shonky and thats the problem.

Have to live with it for the time being, this CPU and Graphics card have set me back £200 this week, plus I've bought a new washing machine and had the kitchen floor done this week as well, leaving me broke.
