Problem with Radeon RX580 - screen artifacts

I've just built a new system with a PowerColor Radeon RX 580 Red Dragon V2 8192MB Graphics Card, and all was good for a few days. After a few days I noticed the odd little square appearing on screen when surfing or using desktop apps. A day later more started to appear and a couple of nights ago after playing Farcry 4 for a few hours, when returning to the desktop it was covered in the squares - see the screenshots below. They move around as I move the mouse.
The odd thing is they are not visible in games. I downloaded 3D Mark to test whether there was something wrong with the graphics card, and they were only visible in one of the tests.
They don't appear in safe mode, and they disappear when I remove the graphics card drivers. I've tried the last few drivers from AMD and the ones on the CD that came with the card and get the same thing - the moment the screen flickers after the drivers have been installed the little squares come back.

I'm not overclocking anything yet and GPU temperatures are low (around 30C) and fans turning when its happening.

Because the squares started to appear slowly, and nothing changed on the system other than automatic windows updates, I'm suspecting a hardware fault on the card.

Unless anyone has any other ideas I'm going to have to RMA the card.

That's likely a prelude to the card dying, I would RMA it. I also had a problem with that exact model of RX 580 last year, so it might be worth trying a different one.

Thanks, I've put in an RMA request via a webnote.

Hope you have better luck with your next card. I'm not entirely sure I trust PowerColor's quality control (if they have any), because I had that exact card last around the middle of last year, and it was also knackered from day one.

Credit where its due - applied for an RMA Saturday and had a response within hours. Dropped the card off at a DPD pickup point on Sunday and my replacement arrived today. That's less than a week from fault to fixed so I'm very pleased with how OCUK handled this one!

When my 980ti (back in the day) died I sent it back next day delivery and Overclockers sent me a new one that very same next day, which arrived with me the next day.

I pretty much only use Powercolor cards, never had an issue and I am on my fifth now.
