IM having a major problem with my PC lately...
Im getting som CRC errors when I try to uncompress a .rar files larger than 300mb, also this problem afect the .cab files So I cant install almost all my favorite games...

I dont think is a software problem because I just format my PC and try: Vista x64 (my default), vista x32, XP SP2 and the same problem apear...

I have read in other forums that this problem is related with some bad memory issue, so I try 1 by 1 all my stick of ram and the problem persist.. either with 1gb,2gb or 4gb. I also try a friend's ram and the problem persist....

this is frustrating, I have a $4,000 PC for just word processing
I just bought this motherboard and I hope is not the MB because is almost imposible to RMA to tigerdirect because I live in other country.. I was hoping it was the ram because they are cheap....

anybody with a solution or the same problem???

I will try to update the bios later, Also try to change the SATA cables... another idea or posible solution?

Spec:
Q6600 (I tried OC and stock)
Maximus formula SE
8800 ultra
4gb OCZ reapers
TT toughpower 750w

I had the same problem, however for me it was due to bad memory.
Have you tried using Gigaget to download large files? Google it and give it a try.
I believe some people have had success using it with large files when they were getting CRC errors.

Changing the SATA cable would definitely be worth trying, in the past I have seen CRC errors occur due to faulty cables (a long time ago, so it was IDE cables!).

The biggee with winrar is a ram problem but like you say you have tried other ram but did you remember to change ram timing aswell ?

just a thought.

I know someone who had a similar problem and it turned out to be dodgy RAM but it was not the same mobo as you, yeah RMA does seem to be a problem if you stay in another country from where you got it. Have you got another mbob to try it out on that?

ps How is Managua because im going a tour through South America sometime this year :)
