I have this very strange problem on a new screen. Just can't figure out why it's only on some games? Maybe someone may have the answer?

Anyway, cutting a long story short, I recently purchased a Samsung SyncMaster 2494SW for my spare machine.

It's absolutely fine apart from two games. Company of Heroes and Lego Star Wars, when playing in the screens native res, the image shimmers ?? If i knock the resolution down to say 1770 x 1000 then it's perfect again, allbeit not taking up the entire screen (1 inch borders all round to accomodate for the reduced resolution)

All my other games in 1920x1080 are perfect, as it is in Windows..

Tried a different screen a Dell 24inch 1080P screen on those two games, (just wanting to make sure this wasn't some sinister vga problem) and it was also fine..

So anyway I'm RMA'ing the screen, but being that this screen is perfect other than these two games, makes me think that probably they are all like that? As i said it's perfect in everything else outside of these two games, and its definately something unique to this screen.

As i await the replacement, has anyone with a strong technical background in LCD's have any answers? The shimmering is almost as if it's struggling to lock on a decent refresh rate. I'm very curious as to why it's only a small number of games its doing it on?

Comments welcomed.

Well I've just rec'd my replacement and it's doing the same thing.. Samsung screens are so crap sorry to say. This is not the first time that they've put defective product into the market place. I had the same issues about 3 yrs ago on two 19" LCD's of theirs. Both had SEVERE ghosting, both brand new.

I have no idea as to why some things run fine in 1920 x 1080P on this screen, but considering there's only 10 games installed on this particular PC and 2 of them have the fault !! There's something clearly wrong.
