Problem with searching with search engines

This is really annoying me now

Basically, whenever i search for something on Google, Ask and Yahoo i can see the results, but then when i click on one it just pops up with advertising, sometimes MySpace and once it took me back to the Google home page.

Anything i can do to fix this?

Rebuild your PC. You have adware.

Try a different browser first, though. (Firefox recommended).

dont be daft theres no need to rebuild.

download spybot or similar and do a full system scan.

Do a scan and fix anything it finds with malwarebytes then post a logfile from hijackthis.

you don't have any software installed by the name of AntiVirus XP or something similiar?

my dad has just had it for the second time and it's a smart virus. first time we eventually removed it, but second time it was too smart nothing we tried worked so decided a format was by far the easiest option.

if you go down malware bytes route one thing which took a long time to find out is that you may need to start up in safe mode and then rename the .exe for anything you use to remove it as it stops the programs running if it knows the program is a virus/spyware remover.
