I got a second hand ps2 slim (yes 2, not 3) from ebay, it almost works fine.

It came with 31 games and some work fine in it, spins up and recognises them and others it gets stuck on "Reading disc..." and makes a click... (one second pause)... click.. etc noise.

They dont really seem to be all that scrached either, just a very tiny one if you look carefully, but my PC can read them fine. Seem to be well looked after CD's.

Ive tried a lens cleaner kit but it didnt help.

Any suggestions?

Does sony still provide support for the playstation 2? Is there some sort of number I can call?

Edit: Found some good videos on youtube, incl a better way to clean lens - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGk3UltJ0s0&feature=related
and how to install a new laser, they only about £9 from ebay - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1JwUyjFPOQ
will try some more lens cleaning first but would rather not take it apart myself to install new lens as I dont trust myself too much lol, will keep that as a last resort.

I read up and people say its uber sensitive to scraches, like the tiniest scrach can make a game not load! Way more sensitive than a drive in your PC. Which could explain why I have a pile of working games and a pile of broken ones. Perhaps a new laser will fix this?

Edit: tested them all, 24 working, 6 broken
