Got a problem with someones pc im fixing, its the last one i do i swear to god, cant take it anymore

Basically they wanted me to install a 4-in one printer, its a HP compaq D330, they had problems where it wouldnt recognise usb2.0 devices, so i uninstalled the controllers and re-booted into windows, downloaded the chipset drivers and expected that to sort it. but it didnt. I now cant install the usb controllers again??? even a windows update or install over the internet dont work.

Iv been on hp's website and found a fix to fix the problem i went round there for in the first place! usb2.0 fix, but without controller drivers its useless.

Are there a generic set of drivers i can download? i was pretty sure the chipset drivers should have worked with this, but when installation was complete, it recognised new hardware but marked it as "unknown"?

Also does anyone know if installing SP3 will do the trick? as they had SP2 on there

whats the service/tag number on the back of the case? enter that in to the support site and you will find all drivers listed there.

Iv already tried the chipset drivers from the HP site, installed them but they didnt install the USB controller drivers (Read 1st post).

Anyone? I kinda need to go back tonight, was just wondering what the best solution is if the chipset drivers for this PC do not work.

Pretty sure that installing SP3 with add the neccessary drivers for the USB controllers.

If I was still at work I'd take a look at one, I'm surrounded by them at the moment!

EDIT:

Make sure sp27532.exe was the chipset driver set you installed
Also, when you go to find the drivers for the system, get them from the XP Home section, not the Pro section.
The common drivers are all the same, but there are more on the Home Driver page.

Just a quick question, that driver you mentioned "sp27532.exe" i noiced that this is for the Compaq evo D510, im assuming it uses the same chipset as the HP Compaq D330?

Ill give it a bash :)
