I cocked up when i installed windows 7, i have a 500gb hdd and have 2 partitons, my windows and apps have 29gig were as my games have like 465gig, i only got like 2 gig left on my windows disk and when i install the 1.5 patch for cod 5 which is 2.5 gig it states i do not have much space even though ive installed cod 5 on the games partition. So can i pop in my windows disk and transfer a few gig from the d to the c?

The patch may want to use C:\ temporarily to extract everything to.

What?

Why would you need your windows disc to transfer files?

Do you mean you want to change partition sizes?

You can do this inside windows using disk management or similar app.

There are a couple of programs that will let you resize the partitions, partition magic and paragon partition manager spring to mind. The windows install disc can only delete partitions and form new ones, not resize existing ones. If you use the windows disc, you will lose the data on both discs. The programs will let you resize without losing the data, most of the time. But it is pretty damn risky, so make sure you have backups in case things go wrong.

this is why I say use 40-50 gb for windows partition

for now..

disable system restore
run ccleaner

move pagefile to D:

that'll get around the problem for now.

move pagefile back to C: after you've done the patch

you could use partedmagic boot cd to move the partitions about and take some space from D to C

but backup first, it may take a while
