Problem with Stubbs the Zombie

Installed the full game, ran it and my monitor complained of an unsupported refresh rate. :eek:

Installed 1.01 patch (hoping it would allow me to fix the problem), ran Stubbs in Safe mode, went to the Settings menu and it asked for a username. I entered a username, and it changed to the unsupported game resoloution. :mad:

I quit the game (I had a lucky guess of the keys to quit), and tried to run in safe mode again, and joy! I get the intros in the unsupported resoloution!

Apart from when I had an Olivetti monitor which could only do 800x600@56Hz, this is the only time I have had problems with my monitor being unable to support resoloutions.

Even if I have to edit the registry or some INI file, I'll do it - just let me play the game! :mad:

I had this problem with Stubbs and Pacific Fighters. I ended up using an app to force the refresh rates. I think it's called ReForce (not at home, can't check it right now). It did the trick and then I was able to change the res in game to something more suitable.

Told me to reinstall the game, don't run it, install patch, and choose resoloution under safe mode. Ermm, what do you think I've been doing? :rolleyes:

It's not a bad game if you get it running.

Borrowed it from a chap at work who was bored with it...

Installed it - played it for a couple of days - had a bit of a snigger - uninstalled and given back

It's that kind of game - wait till budget/mods

Did you try and start it up between installing it and patching it?

Just to confirm. It was ReForce that I used. Stubbs defaults to 800x600 when you first start it. For some reason, my refresh rate would default to something higher than my TFT could manage. This little app allows you to set the refresh rate at various resolutions. I recommend you give it a try as it solved the problem with both my games mentioned above.
