Hi there.

I own a M reg Fiesta 1.6 Si (mk3.5).

Right, when I come off the clutch the car seems to jerk even if i'm gentle with it it still jerks. I can't feel it if I blip down the gears but on a normal downchange I can.

It's not a major problem but it's quite annoying because I like my driving to be smooth. It doesn't jerk as bad if i'm changing up but it's still noticeable, but if I change up gear quickly I can't feel it at all.

Any ideas fellas?

No Lopez, that's where you're wrong!

It needs a 2.0 litre engine ;)

Would it be easier to just have the clutch cable replaced?

Ok, lets say that the cable isn't at fault. What else could it be?

I'm hearing that my particular engine is known for "sticky valves" could this be related? Or could it be something like gearbox mounts or even the actual clutch?

Oh and what can I lube the cable with, can I use copper slip??

Cheers :)

Edit: My 1.6 is quite lazy. The peak power is at 5.5krpm with a rev limiter at 7krpm and max torque at 3krpm. Doesn't sound as nice as my 205 at full chat though - must be a 16v thing.

There are no vibrations at idle or when i'm driving so I don't think it could be the mounts now actually.

Will get the old man to have a look at the cable for me.
