Hi

My dad has a dell pc which has a problem with front usb ports. He asked me to look at them because he couldnt get his camera or memory card reader to work. Had a look last night and couldnt get either to work. It recognises something has been plugged it but cant find he drivers for it. The ports will work with usb light and also flash drives. I tried an external hard drive and another reader incase it had someting to do with his memory cards but it wouldnt see either. Same thing for rear ports as well
He's on Vista Home and I dont know what else to try.

Any ideas?

Plug in the problem device and then remove the drivers from system devices manually. Then try again installing the cd or drivers supplied with the camera before plugging it back in.

words of wisdom, dont trust windows own drivers all the time as often they dont quite work.

Uninstall all USB Devices in Device Manager and re-boot. It may solve the issue although Windows own generic drivers are pretty pants.
