Problem with WAP

I have a WAP installed onto my wired router so my laptop can go wireless, but I am having a problem getting the WAP configured, when I run the CD software it gives me the IP of the WAP as 192.168.20.103, then if I continue to the next stage it brings up the I.E webpage with the address in and says 'Page Cannot Be Displayed' ? The LAN, Wan lights are both on.

If I try and do it via Windows, it finds the AP but it will not accept my WEP/WPA keys, so it stays unsecured.

Do I have to do anything to my router?

Grrr, can anyone help? Is something blatantly obvious wrong?

Did you set the AP to use whatever WPA key you're trying to use via Windows?
The AP needs to be in the same subnet (i.e. if your subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, the first three octets have to be the same) as the rest of your machines.

Hi,

I cant even get that far with the WAP software cos of this 'default' ip of 192.168.20.103

I cant get to the admin page...via windows it connects but when i go to enable security it doesnt wanna know.

192.168.0.2 isn't in the same subnet as 192.168.20.103.

You need to either change your network to using 192.168.20.n (where 0 < n < 255), or change the AP's IP address*.

*disconnect your machine, connect it to the AP, manually set an IP, subnet mask et al (192.168.20.n, subnet mask 255.255.255.0), connect to the AP, change its IP to something in the same range as the rest of your network (i.e. 192.168.0.x), and put things back how they were.

I am unable to set any IPs for the WAP as i cannot enter the admin page due to this random ip of 192.168.20.103

sorry if im being thick?

i think he means

Connect your self to the AP using the ethernet cable and set your PC to say 192.168.20.104 255.255.255.0.

And then configure it from there

And like Tolien already said, make sure its set within the same subnet.

Update

Ok, well it turns out the IP address of the WAP was incorrect, the real IP was 192.168.1.250, I found this from the official website. So I changed my network IP to 192.168.1.251 and followed the above all is working brilliant!

Thanks a lot! :D
