Problem with wi-fi connection, ping general transmit failure.

Got a strange problem with a computer running Windows 7. It frequently connects to the wi-fi network I've set up but then says "No internet access", using ping I see packet loss sometimes to the routers on the lan and sometimes the ping fails completely saying general transmit failure.

Loads of other devices in the same location connect just fine with no packet loss and good signal strength, including a computer using the same usb wi-fi adaptor and drivers.

I've tried flushing dns, renew, release etc. reinstalling drivers, removing and adding the connection but nothing seems to work. Windows update keeps failing because of it, madness. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Is it sometimes connecting to a neighbours BT hotspot instead? Drives me up the wall when mine does that.

Plug that one in and see if problem persists.

It still persists.

It's in the middle of the country so no, there are no neighbours. :p

Looks like a reformat is going to be the solution here, how I hate windows...
