Problem with Wii SCART cable.

When I plugged my new Wii SCART cable in (official one btw) my TV stubbornly refuses to show any picture at all. I get the sound ok but no picture from the normal TV channels or the Wii. The composite cable with the SCART adapter works fine. Any ideas what could be wrong?

My TV is kinda old so I reckon it could well be time to get a new one ;)

May be the Scart is default at 60hz, is there a way to change it to 50hz?

Your SCART will not use one of the normal channels. Do you have a button like AV select or anything similar maybe a picture of a box with an arrow pointing into it?

You mean the RGB cable? Is it in an RGB socket?

Yeah sorry - the name on the box is a "Wii RGB cable". And yes, it was in an RGB socket :p

Wait - whats the difference between a SCART and an RGB socket then?

TVs generally have 1 RGB SCART socket, the rest of them being composite SCART, or something like that. RGB SCART is the better quality, not sure why, but the signal is a lot better.

If you have not tried it in SCART socket 1, have a go :)

Cheers - tried it in socket 1. Picture worked fine for TV and Wii - but none of my WiiMotes sync'd. Switched it back and can sync again

SCART is a connector standard , RGB is effectively the same as component but in this case the signals are through the SCART plug not seperate phonos. TVs will quite often only have one SCART with RGB capability the others only handle composite .
