Hi

Hope this is the right forum for this!

I purchased a cheap (£40) Yamada DVD-MX105 DivX DVD player a few months ago for the lounge in our student house

It was working perfectly until about a week ago. We were watching Red Dwarf and it started to pause briefly then continue. The pausing progressively got more frequent so I stopped the DVD and ejected it - the disc itself was fine (only a few weeks old and plays fine on my PC)

This is where the problem started. If you close the DVD drive it will close then 2-3 seconds later it will eject, whether there is a DVD in the drive or not. It does this regardless of the media in the drive (audio CD, MP3, pictures, DVD video, DivX, nothing, etc)

It does it if you use the buttons on the machine or the remote to close the drive. If you close it by pressing play it does it too

If you switch the unit off when it is closed it will stay closed but open as soon as you switch the unit back on. We've tried leaving it unplugged for a few days to see if we can trigger a reset and we've tried looking for a reset option!

There doesn't seem to be anything in the menu either and google is proving to be unhelpful - no-one else seems to be experiencing this problem

If you turn it off with the drive ejected it stays ejected when off and when on.

Basically it wants the drive to stay continually ejected!

When you close it (by the close button or by pressing play) it always displays "Close" -> "Load" -> "Open" on the LCD display on the front

The company we bought it off has gone bust (they were a competitor to OCUK but as they've gone bust I'm not sure whether I can mention them or not)

Does anyone have any ideas?

All greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
