I installed the Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 cpu fan today but i have a problem, not sure if any of you guys have had this but according to the specs the fan suppose to run at 2,600 RPM max speed.

My fan only run at 2,360 RPM max speed :(

I have checked the controller is all the way up, been in the bios but can't seem to find anything to get the speed up anymore.

I have the following hardware in my pc if this helps ..........
Asus M2N32-SLi-DLX nForce 590 SLi (Socket AM2) Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ 2.40GHz CPU

The temps i'm getting on idle at the moment are .........
CPU: 42c
MB: 48c

I haven't checked the temps on load yet

Well the BIOS will be controlling the speed as well as the Zalman thing - that's only a secondary user control. I wouldn't worry overly about it though.

1) Remember that temp readings can be fairly far out (10 - 20%) - updating the BIOS on some boards makes a big difference (not sure about that one).

2) Those temps do appear reasonably high (loaded my S939 X2 3800 is at 42C with the original CNPS9500). However, I'm not sure if the AM2 chips run hotter anyway (?). Have you tried re-seating the cooler? Also, what case cooling do you have there?

You'll probs just find they read the temps more accuratley if anything.
That may well be the case. The program that was floating about reading the die temp a few weeks ago was quite surprising. It is possible that the new chips are reading temps closer to this.

I haven't tried re-seating the cooler as i squeezed out all the thermal paste that was included and spreaded it out the best i can over the AMD X2 chip, it was kinda thin after spreading it out but didn't chance mixing other paste with it.

I got roughly the same temps with the cooler i got with the CPU but bear in mind that our room is kinda warm anyway which doesn't help i suppose.

As for the case cooling, i have a Thermaltake Amour Case with a 120mm fan at the front and back and a 90mm fan at the top.

I used to watch and laugh as people were saying things like:

I'm running my 3700+ at 5ghz at 2.8v and still only getting load temps of 32c, that's on my adapted to fit radeon 9800pro cooler

COME ON! you cannot cool chips that are OC'd to the point of outputting well over 100w of heat to 30anything with air!

ROFL Bundles ... "Some Total Noob". It is just general ignorance though, most people would never have a reason to know, so you can't blame them.

@ Wolfenstein
I seem to remember there being a fair amount of paste with my CNPS9500. I never used that paste, but you may have put too much on, which would effect your temps. Get yourself some AS5 and follow the guide on their website for how to apply it.

I can and I will ;) :p
