Hi, downstairs i have a virgin modem and a wireless router, i have been using wireless and its good but it disconnects sometime when im doing stuff and it just annoys me so i bought a 30m ethernet cable [cat5 if it matters?] and connected it to the router then put it out of the wall, ran it along the side house and upstairs into my room [through my wall] it does work but will it be a problem.

Will the cable get damaged, im in england so it rains a lot :p
[the only thing outside it the wire not the ends]

Should be ok.

We had three cables going out of the office, down the side of the building and into the library, which then fed three other areas.

Will be fine.

One thing though, the wireless disconnects are almost certainly due to the router which you have been recommending to others. It's not that great a router and there are many more which are better for the same price.

Some Belkin routers have poor reliability on wireless and will drop connections randomly. A quick google does show some trend, especially on the F5D9230-4. Could be poor firmware (likely) but there are many far better routers out there.

e.g. I have never ever experienced a wireless disconnect, even downloading a linux distro DVD on bittorrent with any of my routers (buffalo and linksys), have experienced a few with my old netgear (rare) but had quite a few with my old belkin. YMMV but I tend to stay away from Belkin wireless now.
